Teen Action Teams at North and West High Schools

Purpose: Empower students to become advocates for a drug-free community. Create a self-perpetuating service learning model that will allow students to practice positive life skills and encourage peers to develop healthy lifestyle habits.

  • Students will be trained to teach interactive drug and alcohol education sessions to their peers and to middle school students as part of the after-school POWER Program.
  • Students will organize Red Ribbon Week, participate in STOMP (Sales of Tobacco to Minors Prohibited) outings, and promote other drug and alcohol prevention/awareness events at their schools.
  • Students will promote a drug-free school community by producing public service announcements and videos to be used in the school and with community partners.
  • One Teen Action member may serve as a Teen Action Team representative to the Community Action Network Student Advisory Board.

Teen Action Teams are open to all North and West High students. TATs will meet after school. Contact Brent DeMoe for more information at 503-588-6261.
