Quality of life leads to a quality work force

Salem is a city of exciting new neighborhoods, comfortable old communities, and carefully preserved historic buildings. It’s a city people are drawn to – to drop by, to visit, and to stay.

The City lies within an hour’s reach by auto of some 70 percent of Oregon’s population. That puts us within easy reach of a labor pool, managerial candidates, and a range of educational institutions closely tuned to the needs of business and industry.

We sit at a strategic midpoint between Oregon’s four largest institutions of higher learning: University of Oregon, Oregon State University, Portland State University and Oregon Health Sciences Center. At least ten other universities are either within the City or less than an hour away – all of which gives business here a big talent pool from which to draw.

Our quality education starts with our elementary and secondary schools: of Salem’s eight high schools, three were recently ranked among the top ten academically in the state.

We train your workforce to order. Through an exemplary partnership among several Salem organizations, including the community college, we provide the funding, recruitment and the training to deliver a workforce that’s ready to go when a relocating business opens its doors.

Our jobs diversity supports economic stability. Salem’s wide range of industries and employers – including, as the state’s capital city, a large base of government workers – provides a good buffer against economic downtowns.
