SHA Service AreasSalem Housing Authority has established four service area offices where property management and maintenance operations are carried out:

Each service area handles an average of 170 housing units according to their geographic location, staffed by a property manager, assistant manager and two maintenance employees. These offices conduct a full array of property management operations such as taking applications, leasing vacant units, carrying out lease enforcement functions, preparing vacant units for re-rental, making repairs and maintaining grounds and buildings.
This organizational change was prompted by a HUD requirement for Public Housing properties and presents an opportunity to build closer ties between the Housing Authority, tenants, and neighborhood residents. The Authority is committed to improving client service through the new service area structure while continuing to handle a backlog of tenant-generated and SHA-generated work orders, completing timely annual recertification of tenant income, increasing occupancy rates, and reducing the number of unit vacancy days.
