Salem Parks

The pride and joy of any town is the public park system. Salem boasts hidden gems located inside neighborhoods, larger community parks with reservable areas for weddings, reunions, company picnics, and athletic tournaments, plus special event parks for concerts, festivals, movies, and run/walk events. Salem is fortunate to have historical sites and park features not found anywhere this side of the Mississippi. Salem's thriving volunteer base works in tandem, contributing assistance to support these wonderful City resources.

Geer Community Park* is a community park with multiple recreational opportunities. Geer has a combination of hard and soft walking trails, picnic tables, and permanent restrooms located near the baseball/softball fields* and the soccer fields*. North of the baseball/softball fields are a skatepark and pump tracks utilized by both bicycles and skateboards.

Reservable Areas

Paid reservations have priority over drop-in use.

*Geer Community Park baseball and soccer fields received upgrades as part of the Safety and Livability Bond passed by Salem voters in November of 2022.

The baseball fields received a synthetic infield and created an option for softball to be played also. The soccer fields are still under construction. The baseball/softball fields are near completion. For more information about when the ballfields will be opened and scheduled, contact parksandrecreation@cityofsalem.net or call 503-588-6261.

Baseball/Softball Fields*

The baseball/softball fields have basepaths for 60-,70-, 80-, and 90-foot play and portable mounds. Both fields have covered dugouts and a set of bleachers behind home plate.

The synthetic infield baseball/softball fields are available through reservation.

Soccer Fields*

Fields are open for scheduled use, weather permitting, mid-March through October.

Practice is drop in, first-come first-served. When multiple teams are present, teams are expected to safely share the space.
