Salem Public Library offers new hours and more services beginning Tuesday, April 5. In addition to an earlier opening time and Sunday hours, we will reopen the West Salem Branch, and open the Teen Scene and study rooms at the Main Library.

New Main Library Hours

585 Liberty St. SE:

• Tuesday-Thursday 10:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.
• Friday and Saturday 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
• Sunday 1:00-5:00 p.m.

No-contact Curbside Service is available by appointment only from 10-11 a.m. Sundays.

Teen Scene Room Open 

The Teen Scene Room on Floor 2 of the Main Library will open to middle and high school-aged youth:

• Tuesday-Thursday 3:00-7:00 p.m.
• Friday 3:00-5:00 p.m.
• Saturday 1:00-5:00 p.m.

Services available in the Teen Scene Room include puzzles, board games, gaming systems, comfortable seating, and the new Music Exploration Station offering a variety of musical instruments for teens to test and practice on.

Study rooms open

Library study rooms are free and are available to reserve for up to two hours per day per user.

Meeting rooms available to reserve

Individuals and groups can reserve meeting rooms online, by phone, or at a Salem Public Library Ask Here Desk. Meeting rooms will be available to use beginning Tuesday, May 3.

West Salem Branch to reopen

395 Glen Creek Rd. NW:

Tuesdays and Thursdays 12:00-4:00 p.m.

The West Salem book drop will remain closed at all times. Books can be returned inside the library during open hours. Other services available during open hours at the West Salem Branch will include browsing, checkout, holds pickup, library cards, wi-fi and public computers, and use of the West Salem Branch study and meeting rooms.

About holds 

With the reopening of the West Salem Branch, patrons are encouraged to carefully check their default holds settings. Holds that become available after April 5 with a pickup location of "West Salem Branch Library" will be available for pickup only at the West Salem Branch between 12 and 4 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Anyone wishing to continue picking up their holds at the Main Library should set the pickup location as "Salem Public Library."
