Some fees for Salem Public Library meeting rooms and out-of-area cards will increase on July 1, 2025 as part of the new Fiscal Year 2026 Fee Schedule adopted by the Salem City Council.
There are new library meeting room rates for all non-commercial users. The current rate paid by commercial users will not change. The new non-commercial rates represent a 20 percent discount to align with current City of Salem policy. Proof of governmental or non-commercial status may be requested.
For room reservations made on or after July 1, rates per hour of room use will be:

Additional changes to the city’s fee schedule increase charges for non-residents who wish to purchase a full-service Salem Public Library card. Full-service cards, available to all Salem residents at no charge, allow users to check out 50 items at a time.
Free basic-service cards are available to residents of Marion, Polk, and Yamhill counties living outside the service areas of the 18 public libraries that make up the Chemeketa Cooperative Regional Library Service (CCRLS). These cards allow adult users to have 10 items checked out and youth users to have 25 items checked out.
The new fees for full-service non-resident cards will be:
- $75 per year per household located within the CCRLS service district but not within a member city
- $100 per year per household located outside the CCRLS service district but within Oregon
- $40 for a three-month visitor card
