Beginning Wednesday, February 4, Salem residents may get a call or text asking them to participate in a poll about their feelings regarding public safety.
This is a short, focused poll following up on whether viewpoints have changed since the September 2025 Community Satisfaction Poll. Between then and now, the Salem City Council approved additional funding for the Safe, Clean and Healthy Salem Initiative for efforts focused on these concerns, including:
- Increasing the Police Homeless Services Team and Clean Salem Team (Salem Outreach and Livability Services Team) work schedule to seven days a week.
- Funding a pilot fire/mental health co-response called REACH, the Rapid Engagement, Assessment & Community Health Team.
