A pre-application conference can help you learn about the land use process and give you an opportunity to discuss your project in detail with City staff. It is not meant to identify or resolve every issue. Some land use actions require a pre-application conference, but you can request one for any land use action.
You need the following items are required and need to be complete and uploaded when applying for a pre-application conference:
site plan drawing, elevations, vicinity map, proposed property division, assessor tax lot maps and/or any other drawings showing a detailed view of the proposed development. These documents should be draw to scale on letter (8.5" x 11") or tabloid (11" x 17") pages.
Additional documents required by the SRC for the specific land use action.
Payment of the
Applications must be submitted through the City of Salem Permit Application Center. The first time you use the portal, you will need to create an account.
Once you are logged in:
- Click the Schedule a Pre-Application Conference button at the top of the Dashboard.
- Follow the instructions for creating your request, uploading your application form and plans, selecting your conference date and paying the application fee.
The application fee must be paid when the application is submitted. Conference dates and times will not be secured until the fee is paid.
Staff will contact you to confirm your conference time within three business days of submittal.
Waiver of mandatory pre-application conference
The Planning Administrator may waive a mandatory pre-application conference when the application is simple and good cause is shown by the applicant.
