Library Services for Adults


Staff at the Ask Her​e Desks are av​​ailable to help with your refere​​nce questions, directions, e-reader help, and research.​​​​​

​Adult collections are availab​le at the main Library and the West Salem branch. At the main branch they are located on floor two and three.

On-site resources

The collections include:

Comfortable spaces for private and group study are available. Reservations are required for some areas so ask staff for suggestions.

The Readers' Advisory Desk is located just past the Patron Holds shelves. Readers' Advisory staff can help you find a book to read, teach you how to search the CCRLS catalog, and more.

Online resources

Additional Library resources are also available via internet:

  • Access many of the online resource provided by Salem Public Library remotely with your Salem Public Library full service card.
  • The online resources page has a list of our most popular resources, as well as an A to Z list of all available resources.
  • Answerland​, provided by Libraries in Oregon, gives online access to librarians across the state.
  • Public wi-fi, electrical outlets, and Computers with internet access are also available.
  • Print a document from home, the Computer Center or online while in the Library using our print system.​
  • The genealogy resources page lists the resources available at the Salem Public Library.

If you or someone you know is unable to get to the Library you may qualify for Homebound Services.

If the Library doesn't carry an item our Interlibrary Loan department may be able to get it for you from another U.S. Library.

Connect with others in the community through Salem Reads.

​​Book Club K​its​: A book club kit has 10 copies of a single book, author information, and suggested discussion questions. You can check a kit out for two months at a time. To find out what's available for your book club stop at the Ask Here Desk on floor two of the main branch.​

Month​​​​​​ly and Special Events: Salem Public Library has special events for adults throughout the year, monthly book clubs and community groups hold regular meetings.​
