On January 8, 2018, the Salem City Council enacted an ordinance that provides property tax exemptions for low-income housing held by charitable, nonprofit organizations. The tax exemption is intended to benefit low-income residents and support the availability of low-income housing units in the City. Applications for the 2019-2020 tax year are due by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, August 29, 2018.
