​On January 8, 2018, the Salem City Council enacted an ordinance that provides property tax exemptions for low-income housing held by charitable, nonprofit organizations. The tax exemption is intended to benefit low-income residents and support the availability of low-income housing units in the City. The 2019-20 application process has been completed and applications for 2020-21 will be available in July 2019.
