The Children’s Corner dollhouse has returned! The large Victorian-style dollhouse, a beloved fixture in the Salem Public Library children’s area since 1981, has been on its own special journey during the renovation of the Main Library. In need of repairs and a general facelift, it has been skillfully restored by miniaturist Peggy Zorn. Fresh touches include new wallpaper, art, touch-ups, select features, landscaping, and lighting. Two new doll families have been purchased and will be featured in the house.
The dollhouse is housed in an all-new custom display case built by Jamison Sellers, owner of Bolster Furniture of Portland. It is accented by coordinating alphabet block-themed benches and seats for those viewing the house.
The restoration project was funded by an Aurelia Edwards Youth Grant to the Salem Public Library Foundation.
We look forward to sharing the house with delighted children for years to come.
