On Wednesday, April 25, at 6 p.m. in City Council Chambers, the City of Salem Citizen Budget Committee will hold the first of three Budget Committee meetings. After receiving community input on the City's estimates for revenue, the cost of services and capital projects, the budget committee will then develop a recommended budget for City Council to consider during a public hearing in June. The $596.7 million budget will focus on the priorities of the Salem Strategic Plan and the 2018 Council Policy Agenda, including sustaining City services, reducing homelessness, public safety and supporting the Salem economy. It also includes environmental priorities identified by City Council, such as a greenhouse gas inventory.

The two additional budget committee meetings will be held in Council Chambers on May 2 and May 9. The public is encouraged to attend or watch the committee meetings. All meetings will be live-streamed on cable channel 21, Capital Community Television's YouTube Channel, and the City of Salem's Facebook page.
