Division and Liberty St. NE, in the vicinity of the new Salem Police Station, will reopen to all through traffic beginning Thursday, November 5.

These street segments have been closed as crews completed several traffic, pedestrian, and bicycle safety improvements. Improvements include new traffic signals, additional on-street parking, landscaping, lighting, sidewalks, and crosswalks. In addition, Division and Liberty Streets NE have both been converted from one-way to two-way traffic, resulting in the following changes:

Westbound traffic on Division St. can no longer turn left to travel south on Commercial St. NE.
Southbound traffic on Liberty St. NE heading to west Salem can now continue to Marion St. NE before heading west.

These improvements have been designed to improve traffic access and safety in the vicinity of the new Police Station. The attached graphic depicts the traffic patterns that will be opened to the public on November 5, 2020. City crews will be working actively in the area on the morning of November 5th to ensure that the new signals are operational and to make any necessary adjustments.
