Current openings are available to suit many different interests. Are you interested in parks or history? Are you over 50 years old? Do you want to see improvements in the economy, traffic, housing, police or human rights? If so, you can apply for a City of Salem board or commission and make a difference in the future of your community.

Some openings may have special requirements. For example, Center 50+, the City's program for older residents, is seeking representatives of faith, business and health care communities.

• Citizen's Advisory Traffic Commission (two full-term and one partial-term position)
• Civil Service Commission
• Community Police Review Board (partial term)
• Downtown Advisory Board (full term, business or property owner in the Riverfront Downtown Urban Renewal Area)
• Downtown Advisory Board (full term, business or property owner within the Downtown Parking District)
• Downtown Advisory Board (partial term, representing a downtown institution or nonprofit within the Riverfront-Downtown Urban Renewal Area, or Salem Hospital)
• Historic Landmarks Commission (at large)
• North Gateway Redevelopment Advisory Board (full term, within the North Gateway Urban Renewal Area)
• Salem Housing Advisory Committee (full term, tenant representative)
• Salem Housing Advisory Committee (partial term, development and finance representative)
• Salem Human Rights Commission (two partial-term and two full-term positions)
• Salem Parks & Recreation Advisory Board (partial term)
• Salem Public Library Advisory Board (partial term)
• West Salem Redevelopment Advisory Board (full term, resident in West Salem Neighborhood Association)
