Salem's Urban Development Department is excited to announce that Walker Macy has been selected to lead community visioning and design efforts to develop a Design Plan for downtown Salem streetscape improvements. Five proposals were received in response to a Request for Proposal (RFP) solicitation. Walker Macy's selection resulted from the evaluation of these proposals.

Streetscape improvements were identified as one of the top urban renewal funding priorities within the Riverfront-Downtown Urban Renewal Area during a series of 12 focus group meetings in 2016. A community work group worked with the Urban Development, Public Works, and Community Development Departments to develop a scope of work for consulting efforts.

The scope of work for this project includes a communication strategy that will include multiple opportunities to gather input from the community to inform development of the Design Plan. This public input process will begin later in 2017 and continue into 2018.

Walker Macy has experience in streetscape projects that have been shown to enhance downtowns. Their project team consists of experienced professionals in the fields of landscape architecture/planning, civil engineering, transportation, public involvement, and economics.
