Home Help Through Center 50+

Whether you need help with home repairs or meals, check the list of Center 50+ home care services for older adults.

Fix-it brigade

This program is designed to help low-income adults in the 50+ age range with home repairs and volunteer labor. If you qualify for the program will not be charged for labor, but will need to supply all materials. The program coordinator will screen your application to identify whether you meet federal eligibility guidelines.

Types of services:

  • Repair leaking faucets
  • Build risers for chairs, sofas, and beds
  • Repair wooden steps
  • Repair doors
  • Install railings on steps
  • Make minor repairs to fences
  • Install locks
  • Install grab bars
  • Minor caulking and weather stripping.

Unfortunately, the group cannot work on rentals, ladders, wheelchair ramps, small appliances, or electrical.

Friendly visitor and caller outreach program

Teams members are called “Friendly Home Callers” and make daily phone calls to homebound seniors. The service is free.

Respite care

Center 50+ offers two programs to serve caregivers and adults with Alzheimer’s disease.

Center 50+
Due to concerns about the spread of COVID-19 infection, Center 50+ is closed effective Monday, March 16, 2020. Because Center 50+ serves a population considered to be at higher risk for contracting the virus, serves more than 250 people each day, and we cannot guarantee social distancing, Center 50+ will remain closed until the Oregon Health Authority deems it safe to reopen.

Congregate meals offered Monday through Friday at Center 50+ will continue through a drive-up option. Follow https://www.facebook.com/center50plus/ for virtual program offerings during this time. Call -503-588-6303.
