Manage Your City of Salem Utility Service Account

​​Start utility service

Call Customer Services and be ready to provide:

  • Your name, and any other names to be added to the account
  • Phone number
  • Address where you want to start service
  • Date you took possession
  • Address where the bill should be mailed

All new utility accounts are charged a $25 New Account Activation fee that will be on your first bill. This fee is charged for each new account, even if you are a current customer. If water service has been disconnected at the address where you are starting service, it will be reinstated the next business day. If the property has never before been connected to city services, the property owners or developers will need to get utility services permits before utility services can be set up.

Change utility service to a new address

If you are moving and need to change your utility service, call Customer Services Utility Billing and be ready to provide the following:

  • Your name, and any other names to be added to the account
  • Phone number
  • Address where you want to start service
  • Date you took possession
  • Address where you want to stop service
  • Date you moved from the old address
  • Forwarding address where the final bill for your old address should be mailed

When moving service, you will be opening a new utility account, so the New Account Activation fee will apply.

Stop utility service

To stop your utility service, call Customer Services Utility Billing and be ready to provide the following:

  • Your name
  • Phone number
  • Address where you want to stop service
  • Date you moved from the address
  • Forwarding address where the final bill should be mailed
