National Novel Writing Month Teen Challenge

Again this year, Teen Scene is challenging local middle and high school writers to participate in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), a challenge to try to write an entire novel all in one month!

November is an exciting month for middle and high school-aged writers at Salem Public Library. It’s time for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), a challenge to try to write an entire novel or long-form story all in one month. Teen writers set their own word count goal and receive guidance and work of encouragement from popular young adult authors throughout the month. Local teens who sign up for the Teen Scene NaNoWriMo Challenge and the online Young Writers' Program can enter to win a variety of prizes and participate in energizing write-in events in Teen Scene throughout the month.

Here’s how to be part of the fun:

Sign up in Teen Scene through October 31: TeensWrite2019

Once you’re signed up, stop by the Teen Scene desk to get your NaNoWriMo booklet, button, and sticker. We’ll add you to the official Teen Scene Triumphant Chart of Noveling Progress and help celebrate your work throughout the month of November!

Sign up with the online NaNoWriMo Young Writers’ Program and join the Teen Scene classroom: National Novel Writing Month

Get the classroom code when you pick up your NaNoWriMo booklet from Teen Scene.

WRITE from November 1-30. Just get words on a page. It’s just a first draft.

Come to one or more of the NaNoWriMo Write-Ins in Teen Scene during November. Each includes a writing exercise to get your creativity flowing, timed writing sprints with prizes, and snacks!
