Salem Reads 2021 to focus on Walking with Peety

Salem Reads 2021: One Community, One Book will focus on Walking with Peety by Eric O’Grey, a heartwarming book about a man and a rescue dog who walk their way to better health. Salem readers are invited to join together to celebrate the themes of reading, community, healthy living, and dogs from February 1-28. Many free community activities and virtual events are planned throughout the month.

Sign up Open for Winter Reading Challenges

Salem Public Library is offering two reading and activity challenges to spice up the winter months! From January 1 to 31, Salem Public Library will participate in “Books Like Us,” a Winter Reading Challenge sponsored by Simon and Schuster and powered by Beanstack. Patrons can also get a head start on the second Winter Challenge - the Salem Reads: At Home and On the Go Challenge that will take place from February 1-28 as part of Salem Reads 2021, the annual One Community, One Book program sponsored by the Salem Public Library Foundation.

Library Renovation Wins Architecture Award

While seismic upgrades and safety are the primarily goals of the project—a revitalization of the space has been made possible by smart money management and the Salem Public Library Foundation. The design for the upgrade was informed heavily by input from the community combined with Hacker Architects’ experitise in library spaces.
