Donations Now Accepted for 2018 Police Toy Drive

The Salem Police Department is collecting toys and gifts for Salem children this holiday season. The toys should be new and unwrapped for children up to the age of 14 years. Gifts will be accepted through December 12, 2018.

Salem Police to host drug take back site

October 17, 2018

The Salem Police Department is partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration for the biannual Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, October 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Peace Plaza on the city hall campus (500 block of Commercial ST SE).

Water Advisory Report Suggests Specific Improvements to Salem Emergency Preparedness and Communications

A frank assessment of the City’s performance during the two water advisories this summer is now available. The third-party report gives a timeline of events, an assessment of what worked well, what did not, and lessons learned. It also includes recommendations such as bolstering communications resources and emergency preparedness operations.

With the projected warmer weather this week, the City of Salem reminds everyone that additional steps should be taken to maintain health and prevent fires. High heat can impact the health of people and pets. Also, due to increased temperatures and lower fuel moistures, the risk of fire ignition and fire spread is magnified.
