Fireworks Show in Salem’s Riverfront Park Postponed Until Summer 2022; City Encourages Resident Safety

Due to the uncertainty concerning the COVID-19 pandemic in late 2020, the City couldn’t guarantee the traditional festivities would occur and decided not to enter into a contract with its fireworks vendor. Therefore, the City of Salem will not be hosting a July 4th Celebration in Riverfront Park this July. The City of Salem hopes that all of its residents can safely participate in holiday celebrations this summer in a responsible manner and please remember that all city parks close at sunset and fireworks are always prohibited.

The City Of Salem Needs Your Input On New Union Street NE Family Friendly Bikeway

June 3, 2021

The Union Street Family Friendly Bikeway will improve pedestrian, bike riding, and vehicular safety of Union Street NE, between Commercial and Summer streets by adding separated bike lanes, new road striping, improved crosswalks, and parking, where required. When all segment pieces are complete, the Union Street Family Friendly Bikeway will connect to the 134-mile Willamette Valley Scenic Bikeway. At the Union Street intersection with Liberty Street NE, the City will also add a traffic signal and make pedestrian areas at the corners larger to improve safety for both bicycles and pedestrians.
