Police Station Project to Host Local Trade Partners Meeting

Salem's new police station project is in full swing. Residents can expect to see more activity as the project winds down the design phase and gets ready for site construction.

"The site may seem dormant to residents as they drive by, but it's really not" said Deputy Chief Steve Bellshaw, Salem Police Department point-person on the project. "After the big demolition, work on the site has been dedicated to getting the area prepped for groundbreaking."

Construction Manager/General Contractor, JE Dunn Construction, will take the lead during the site construction phase. Work such as mass excavation and utilities, will be done by earthwork contractors. To encourage local contractor participation in this important project, JE Dunn is hosting a special trade partners meeting at the Salem Chamber of Commerce on July 18. JE Dunn Senior Diversity & Inclusion Manager Mel Jones shared, "We are hosting this meeting to make sure that we can get a lot of local participation right off the bat. We want earthwork subs interested in being part of the project to have a strong understanding of what we're expecting."

Local earthwork contractors interested in participating can register to attend through the Salem Chamber of Commerce website.

There is a need for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and concrete contractors. Remaining trade partners will be brought on board as the project progresses. JE Dunn will release a detailed bid schedule as the components for the site construction phase are finalized.
