As of June 1, 2020, the new Public Records Request portal makes it easier to submit, track and pay for requests online.
Under state and federal law, you have the right to inspect and copy certain public records maintained by the City. Some records, such as building permits and business licenses, can be searched online. Others must be requested from a specific department to ensure that exempt public records are not disclosed.
Public records include handwritten, typed, photographed, electronic, or otherwise recorded words, letters, pictures, sounds, symbols, or combinations of any of these. These records can be anything created in the course of City business.
