Site Reuse and Revitalization Grant Program

Salem was awarded $400,000 dollars in 2014-15 through the United States Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) to fund environmental assessments and related activities that support the redevelopment and re-use of underutilized sites city-wide. Eligible sites include those under private or public ownership and with suspected or known contamination or where a sale, re-use, or redevelopment is planned.

EPA grant funds will be used to conduct community outreach, identify interested property owners and revitalization opportunity sites, develop and prioritize an inventory, conduct environmental assessments, and prepare those sites for redevelopment.

Cities across the country have utilized U.S. EPA funding to assess, clean-up, and prepare redevelopment sites, including several Oregon cities such as Beaverton, Eugene-Springfield, and Portland.

Are you interested in applying for grant funds to assist environmental assessment and redevelopment planning activities of an eligible property?  Submit an application for review.
