Storytimes at the Library

Salem Public Library has closed its physical locations. Patrons are asked to keep materials at home until they reopen. Staff will remain available via phone, provide virtual reference and information services (e-books, movies, etc.).  A new date for storytimes to resume will be announced here as it becomes available. Check the City's COVID-19 information center for all City service impacts.

Early, literacy-rich storytimes are fun ways for families to help their babies, toddlers, and preschoolers get ready to learn to read when they start elementary school.

We miss seeing you in the library, but we are still here for you online. Families with toddlers and preschoolers are invited to join Youth Services staff for special LIVE storytimes online the first Saturday of each month. Sign up to receive a Zoom participation invitation and passcode at https://form.cityofsalem.net/s3/Storytime-Live-at-SPL.

Families are also invited to join Youth Services staff online each week for stories, songs, and fingerplays. New online storytimes are published on the library's Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/spl.oregon/ each Monday and Saturday in English and Thursday in Spanish. The Youtube playlist of previous storytimes is available at https://bit.ly/SPLStorytimes.
