The City of Salem was awarded $238,000 through the State of Oregon's Emergency Business Assistance grant program to provide financial assistance for small business impacted by COVID-19. This award provides more funding for additional grants to qualifying small businesses in Salem through the City's existing small business grant program. Grant applications and requirements will be available on the City's
COVID-19 resources page soon.
In order to distribute the additional grant funds, Oregon budget law requires that a supplemental budget be passed since the funds were not allocated in the adopted budget. The City Council will hold a public meeting to consider the first supplemental budget of the fiscal year on August 24, 2020 at 6 p.m. The meeting will take place via Zoom and there will be opportunity for oral public comment. Please contact the City Recorder's office for more information about the Council meeting.
A detailed table displaying the change to the budget is available by clicking the button at the bottom of this page. The notice for the supplemental budget is available on
Public Notices page under the Fees, Rates and Budget Proposals section. You can also view the entire budget online.
