Engaging with advisory boards and support groups for the Salem Public Library provide additional opportunities to support the library.

Salem Public Library Advisory Board

The Salem Public Library Advisory Board acts in an advisory capacity to Salem City Council on the operation of the City of Salem Public Library. The nine-member board is appointed by City Council.

Salem Public Library Foundation

The Salem Public Library Foundation, established in 1981, is a community-based group of Library supporters who raise and administer funds for enhancement projects and programs at the Salem Public Library.

Friends of Salem Public Library

Friends of the Salem Public Library support and cooperate with the Library in developing Library Services and facilities for the community.

Salem Public Library
Due to increasing COVID-19 infections, the City of Salem has postponed the public reopening of the renovated Main Library and the West Salem Branch indefinitely. A new opening date will be announced later.

Curbside Service is available by appointment Tuesday-Sunday. Library items can be returned any time at the outdoor book drop on the Liberty Street side of the building.

Virtual Library services are available 24/7. Download free eBooks, eAudiobooks, and movies, do research, find information, study and contact staff.
