Teen Scene at the Library

A group of five teenagers sitting and standing by bookshelves reading books.

Teen Scene, on Floor 2 of the Main Library, provides services for middle and high school-aged youth (from 5th grade completion to the summer after high school completion generally 11 1/2 – 18 years old).

Teen Scene has two parts: a large area with bookshelves, study tables, and seating; and the fantastic Teen Scene Room that is now open:

  • Tuesday-Thursday 3-7 p.m.
  • Friday 3-5 p.m.
  • Saturday 1-5 p.m.

The Teen Scene books and other library items are available to everyone to browse and check out during all open hours of Salem Public Library. Seating in the entire Teen Scene area is always reserved for teens and the adults who are visiting with them.

What makes the Teen Scene Room so special?

  • Friendly library staff to help you find a great book to read or a fun activity
  • Gaming systems (including a new Switch with 14 games!)
  • Board games!
  • Puzzles!
  • Chalk wall!
  • Booth seating with power and USB plugs
  • The new Music Exploration Station - instruments to play or practice on during your visit
  • Teen Scene Study Room - available only to middle and high school youth (you can even reserve it up to one week in advance online.)
