Severe Weather Advisory
When temperatures are forecasted to reach 95 degrees or higher, garbage haulers in Salem may pick up earlier than usual in your area. Please put carts out the night before to avoid getting missed.
Snow and ice events may cause service delays, causing collection to be later the same day or delayed 1-2 days. Haulers will pick up as soon as roads become safe for trucks. If service is cancelled for that week due to severe weather, collection will be on your next regularly scheduled pick up day and one-week’s equivalent of extra trash will be collected at no extra charge.

The City of Salem regulates solid waste, including garbage, recycling and mixed organics/yard debris collection within the city limits. Regulation includes franchising haulers, developing standards and setting rates for collection services. Standards for collection are contained in Salem Revised Code Chapter 47.
