Teen Scene 

The Teen Scene, located on Floor 2 of the Main Library, provides services for middle and high school-aged youth. This includes students who have completed 5th grade through the summer after high school graduation, typically ages 11½ to 18.

Books and other library materials in the Teen Scene area are available for everyone to browse and check out during all library hours. However, seating in the Teen Scene area is reserved for teens and the adults accompanying them.

Teen Scene Room

The Teen Scene Room is a dedicated space for middle and high school-aged youth and is open during limited hours. Teens can use this space to:

  • Study or relax in the seating area
  • Use the Teen Study Room (reservations can be made online)
  • Use a Library laptop* or free WiFi access. Black-and-white and color printing is available through the laptops or wirelessly through personal devices.
  • Play one of the many board games or work on a puzzle
  • Play and practice using the instruments in the Music Exploration Cabinet
  • Play the 40 games available on the Switch, PS5, and XBox360
  • Ask the staff to help guide you to the perfect book

*Salem Public Library card required

Teen Advisory Board

The Teen Advisory Board is a leadership program for middle and high school-aged youth. Applications are open every summer.

Homework and Research Help

Teens can get help at the Teen Scene Ask Here Desk. While staff cannot complete homework for you, they can guide you to the resources you need. Many online resources are also available on the library’s Homework and Research Help page. Homework and Research Help page.
