Salem’s Neighborhood Associations
Salem’s neighborhood associations give you a voice in your local area and in the City of Salem. These associations are recognized by the City and receive support from City staff, but they are in charge of their own activities. Each neighborhood association decides what projects to work on and how to achieve their goals.
Importance of Neighborhood Associations
Neighborhood associations play an important role in land use matters within their areas. The City and other organizations ask these associations to share their opinions on issues that matter to the community. This means your thoughts and ideas can help shape decisions that affect where you live.
Get Involved
Everyone is welcome to attend neighborhood meetings. Joining these meetings is a great way to be part of a team that is working to improve your community. Your participation can make a difference!
Neighborhood association volunteers make a difference by:
- Providing information to decision makers
- Working on neighborhood projects
- Promoting the livability and community building of the neighborhood
- Acting as a communication link between the City and other citizens
The City assists neighborhood associations with their goals through the help of Neighborhood Services staff. Sign up for your neighborhood association's monthly newsletter to stay up to date on meeting dates and agendas.
