By sharing travel and parking costs, carpooling is a cost-effective and convenient option. With a carpool parking permit, you can access designated on-street spaces reserved just for carpools, making your commute easier and more efficient.

Important Information About Carpool Permits

• Priority on Wait Lists: Carpool applications are given priority on parking location wait lists.
• Fees: Permits are subject to availability and include a one-time processing and automation fee.

How to Apply for a Carpool Parking Permit

You can apply for a Carpool Parking Permit in person at the Customer Service Center or online.

To apply in person: Visit the Customer Service Center (440 Church St SE, 5th Floor) and bring the following:

1. Completed and signed application form with contact information for each carpool rider. Choose a primary passholder. This person will be responsible for paying the monthly bill.
2. Payment for the parking permit fee
3. Photo ID
4. Vehicle license plate number

To apply online: Submit a completed and signed application form to parkingpermits@cityofsalem.net.

You will receive a copy of the parking policies when you get your permit.

How to Cancel a Parking Permit

If you need to cancel your parking permit, you must do so in writing. You can cancel by:

• Sending an email to parkingpermits@cityofsalem.net
• Visiting the Customer Service Center in person (440 Church St SE, 5th Floor)

Important Deadline for Cancellations

To avoid being charged for the current month, the passholder must cancel the permit by the 5th of the month. If the cancellation is not completed by this date, the passholder will still be responsible for that month’s invoice.

How to Update Contact and Vehicle Information

If your address or vehicle changes, it is important to update your information promptly. To do this, email parkingpermits@cityofsalem.net with the following details:

1. Your name
2. Your permit number
3. The updated contact or vehicle information

Keeping your information up to date ensures your permit remains valid and avoids any issues with parking.
