As of July 1, 2025, Marion County Fire District #1 manages Capital FireMed. This change ensures members continue to receive high-quality service and easier access to benefits across the region.
Who Can Join?
You are eligible to join Capital FireMed if you receive fire protection from:
- Marion County Fire District #1
- Keizer Fire Department
- Salem Fire Department
What Does Your Membership Cover?
- Capital FireMed benefit coverage is limited to ambulance emergency 911-activated transports.
- Capital FireMed benefit coverage is 50 percent of patient responsibility without an annual cap.
- Customer service after the call
- Capital FireMed coverage has staff to help handle insurance claims associated with your transport.
What Is Not Covered?
Your membership does not cover:
- Non-emergency wheelchair or stretcher transports, such as trips to routine doctor visits.
- Transports that do not require emergency medical technician (EMT) assistance.
How Your Membership Helps
Your $70 annual membership fee supports:
- Training and equipment for ambulance crews to maintain high-quality care.
- Health care education for the community.
- Keeping ambulance service rates affordable.
- Providing coverage even if you don’t need ambulance transport during the year.
Using Your Membership Outside the Salem Area
Capital FireMed has agreements with over 40 other ambulance providers across Oregon. This partnership extends your coverage beyond Salem, making it useful for people who travel. Together, these providers form the largest ambulance membership network in the country.
How to Join
- Fill out the Capital FireMed membership application form.
- Mail the completed form and your $70 annual fee to the address listed on the form.
