Tools to Help Stop Unsafe Driving
Help Keep Salem’s streets safe
Use the Salem Police Department Online Reporting System to share your concerns about general traffic problems.
For traffic safety issues occurring now or if you need to report a collision with injuries, call the Salem Police non-emergency line at 503-588-6123.
If you witness a traffic violation or notice frequent problems in an area, such as drivers speeding down your street, you can help stop unsafe driving using the following tools.
Submit a Traffic Report
Report general traffic problems or specific traffic violations you have witnessed on our citizen traffic report form:
Suggest a location for a radar reader board
Radar reader boards may be placed in locations where speeding complaints are reported. The reader boards show drivers how fast they are going and what the speed limit is. Drivers will see if they are driving too fast and have an opportunity to slow down. Data collected by the units, such as time of day and speed, may be used by the Traffic Team to decide if additional enforcement is needed. Call the traffic complaint line at 503-588-6293, and select option 2, to suggest a location for a reader board on your street. Include your name, phone number, location of concern, and indicate the direction of travel of the drivers who are speeding.
Other Types of Concerns
Concerns related to parking on public streets are addressed through the City of Salem Parking Services Division online, or by calling 503-588-6133.
Other neighborhood livability issues related to violations of City of Salem code, such as abandoned vehicles or traffic from a home business, are handled by the Community Planning & Development Department's Code Compliance Division online or at 503-588-6421.
