Increase Your Skills with Center 50+ Classes
Lifelong Learning
Center 50+ is a community center for adults aged 50 and older. There is no membership required to participate. The center offers classes, services, health and wellness programs, meals, and special events.
The programs at Center 50+ are inspired by the “7 Dimensions of Wellness” from the Fisher Institute for Wellness and Gerontology at Ball State University. This approach encourages lifelong learning and making choices that help you live your best life.
Learning new skills and hobbies is a fun and rewarding experience at any age. At Center 50+, you can take fitness and computer classes, as well as explore other interests. Classes are taught by contractors and volunteers. If you are interested in teaching a class, contact the Lifelong Learning Coordinator at connect50plus@cityofsalem.net.
Cohort program: Learning Together!
The cohort program helps you focus on balancing the second half of life. As a participant, you will move through the program like a student, starting as a “freshman” and progressing to a “senior.” Each year, you will follow a set curriculum and choose additional “elective” classes.
Here is what the four-year program includes:
- Monthly Sessions: Learn new skills and ideas through group activities.
- Shared Experiences: Enjoy bus tours, social events, and other group activities.
- Community Learning: Gain insight into your community, city, state, and country.
- Brain Health: Explore ways to improve and maintain brain health.
- Friendships: Build connections and friendships along the way.
