The City of Salem has various facilities and parks available by reservation for special occasions like company picnics, receptions, and parties, along with locations for community and private events.

Ballfields are available for practices. To reserve a field for a game, or to find out about using a field for practice, contact Parks and Recreation, 503-588-6261.

Tennis and Pickleball courts are available for drop in use. The rules for play are posted at the entrance to the courts. To reserve the courts for official games or tournaments, call 503-588-6261.

Events using the pathway connecting Riverfront and Minto-Island Brown Parks need to review the Minto Island Conservation Area (“MICA”) restrictions before proceeding with a permit application. MICA Event Restrictions

  1. Complete a Permit and Application

    Pringle Community Hall Permit and Application

    Facility Use Permit and Application / Spanish (Parks, ballfields, picnic shelters)

    Riverfront Park Permit Application (Public events, must also complete a Facility Use Permit and Application)

  2. For reservations or events with sales of craft, food, or goods, a Short-Term Concessionaire Permit is required.

  3. For reservations wanting to have sound, like music or announcements, a Sound Permit may be required.

  4. Alcohol may not be possessed or consumed unless it has been requested and approved on the appropriate permit and application, and all associated fees have been paid.

    Reservable areas where alcohol may be requested as part of the event are: Bush’s Pasture Park, Minto-Brown Island Park, Pringle Community Hall, River Road Park, Riverfront Park, and Woodmansee Park.

    * When submitting a permit and application, take into consideration:

    • Private Event submissions – the request must be submitted ahead of the desired date with enough time to allow 5 business days for processing.

    • Public Event submissions – the request must be submitted ahead of the desired date with enough time to allow for thirty (30) business days for processing.

Change a Reservation

Changes to an approved and processed reservation need to be submitted at least five business days in advance and may result in an additional processing fee.

Cancellation Policy

The City reserves the right to cancel any scheduled park or facility reservation due to unforeseen circumstances or emergency situations.

If a reservation is canceled by the City, a full refund or an offer to reschedule the reservation will be offered.
