Fairview Urban Renewal Area

The Fairview Urban Renewal Area was established in 1984 to prepare 390 acres in southeast Salem for manufacturing and industrial uses. This effort included installing public utilities to support development and creating opportunities to expand employment in the area. Today, the Fairview Urban Renewal Area successfully houses several businesses, contributing to Salem’s economic growth.

Current Status

The Fairview Urban Renewal Area no longer collects tax increment financing. Current work in the area utilizes previously collected tax increment revenue.

Project Plans

When the urban renewal district was first established, property values were assessed and key projects were determined. Project plans are subject to change at the direction of the Urban Renewal Agency.
