Build Your Application
Ensure the education and experience sections of your application clearly show how you meet the minimum job qualifications. Resumes will not replace the education and experience sections unless specified in the job announcement.
Veterans’ Preference
Veterans can claim preference points by marking the appropriate box on the application and submitting documentation of eligibility before the hiring process is completed. Oregon Law (ORS 408.225 and 408.230) defines the eligibility requirements and preference process.

Commercial Driver License (CDL) Positions
For positions requiring a CDL, the City of Salem complies with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Beginning January 6, 2020, the City will access FMCSA Clearinghouse data for drug and alcohol compliance.
As a prospective employee performing safety-sensitive functions, you must register with the FMCSA Clearinghouse. Use the following links for more information:
