Homeless Services Team Finds Help for Unsheltered Stabbing Victim

Last week, a 19 year old was a victim of an assault. During this altercation, the victim was stabbed multiple times and was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. The victim was houseless without a place to go after being released from the hospital, so Salem detectives reached out to Officer Bennett of the Police Homeless Services Team. Officer Bennett worked with the Salem Navigation Center and Be Bold Street Ministries to provide the victim not only with a place to stay but further resources.

City Teams Partner to Help Woman in Crisis

Teamwork and compassion came together this week to help a woman in crisis.

Salem Police Homeless Services Team Officers Ramirez, Bennett, and Sgt. Wiedemann partnered with Salem Fire Department Firefighter/Paramedic Alt of the Salem Rapid Engagement Assessment Community Health (REACH) program to respond to a call involving a woman in crisis. Together, they brought patience, respect and care to a situation where it mattered most.

This type of work often occurs quietly — professionals from different roles coming together, each bringing their training, experience and heart to support someone in need. We’re grateful for the continued partnership between the Salem Police Department, the REACH Program, and for those who show up every day committed to treating people with dignity and understanding.
