Pringle Creek Path Connection Project
Project Information
The Safety and Livability Bond was passed by Salem voters in November 2022 and included partial funding to complete the Pringle Creek Pathway. In July 2023, $6 million in funds has been awarded by the Oregon Community Paths Program.
This project will provide a multi-use connection from the end of the existing pathways under the Commercial Street SE Bridge to Riverfront Park near the Gerry Frank | Salem Rotary amphitheater. Connecting multi-use trails throughout Riverfront Park, Minto-Brown Island Park, Wallace Marine Park, and Willamette University.
The project team is now designing a shared-use path next to the creek that will fill in a missing gap in the city’s trail system. This trail system serves people walking, biking, and rolling throughout the city.
Project Goals
Primary goals of the project include:
- Connect miles of existing walking and biking paths that serve Salem communities on both sides of the Willamette River.
- Create a safer, more direct route between Riverfront Park and the Civic Center with a new pedestrian bridge under the existing Commercial Street Bridge.
- Improve access to employment centers, parks, and residential areas.
- Increase safety and convenience for pedestrians and cyclists around downtown Salem.
