Proposed Changes to Utilities, Stormwater and Floodplain Overlay Zone Code

August 4, 2020

Ordinance 8-20 proposes to amend Salem Revised Code Chapters regarding utilities, stormwater, and floodplain overlay zones as a major step toward reducing costs for Salem citizens with flood insurance policies. The Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA’s) Community Rating System (CRS) program offers local communities the opportunity to reduce its flood insurance premiums by implementing measures that exceed the minimum federal standards. These code amendments are needed to improve Salem’s CRS rating and reduce flood insurance costs.

Open Rebuttal Period on Kuebler Gateway Shopping Center

During the public rebuttal period, anyone may submit testimony or evidence that rebuts or addresses testimony or evidence submitted earlier by another party. Persons submitting rebuttal testimony should indicate what earlier testimony they are responding to.

Secor Park Improvements Scheduled for Construction Starting July 2020

July 15, 2020

Beginning this summer 2020, you’ll see the construction of the new bridge across Waln Creek and installation of a drinking fountain, paved paths, benches, and playground equipment. The park will be closed during construction, which is anticipated to last four months.
