Library contractor seeks "best-value" in subcontractor

Make Music Day at Salem Public Library on June 21

June 12, 2019

Salem Public Library is one of many local venues hosting live outdoor music as part of the 4th annual Make Music Day in Salem. Music at the library will be between 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Friday, June 21 in the Peace Plaza (the area between the Library and City Hall). If it’s a rainy day, we’ll head inside to Loucks Auditorium. Like all Make Music Day events, the shows are free and open to the public.

Bestselling Author/Humorist, Therese Oneill, to Visit Library on May 2

April 26, 2019

Therese Oneill, New York Times bestselling author, will appear at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 2 in Loucks Auditorium at Salem Public Library, 585 Liberty St. SE to introduce her new book, Ungovernable: The Victorian Parent's Guide to Raising Flawless Children. Therese will share some of the top "tips" and her trademark biting commentary, followed by a book signing.

Teen Writers Invited to Enter Short Story Contest

April 15, 2019

Middle and high school-aged writers are invited to enter the annual Teen Short Story Contest. The deadline to enter by email or at the Teen Scene Ask Here Desk is 6 p.m. Saturday, April 20. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three stories in each of two categories: Middle School (grades 6-8) and High School (grades 9-12).

7th annual Library Talent Showcase features exciting, varied line-up

From stand-up comedy to Bollywood-style dance, an exciting lineup of local talent will be packed into one thrilling evening for Strut Your Stuff: A Talent Showcase at 7 p.m. Friday, April 5 in Loucks Auditorium at Salem Public Library, 585 Liberty St. SE. A showcase of local talent for performers ages 18 and older, Strut Your Stuff is a non-competitive annual celebration of the skills and talents in our community. Admission is free on a first-come, first-seated basis. Doors open by 6:30 p.m.
